Electrical Engineering Department Presentation

The Electrical Engineering Department brings together all professors in the research are of Electrical Engineering at the UPC.

Knowledge domains

The Department carries out its activities mainly in two areas:

·Power electrical systems and installations.
·Electrical machines and actuators.

In the first area we find subjects like generation, transport and distribution of the electrical energy, electrical installations, intelligent buildings (industrial and commercial) and domotics, etc.

The second one deals with electrical machines and their static converters for power supply, control and protection, which let us obtain efficient electrical actuators with high mechanical performance. It handles also the automation of both machines and industrial production lines.

The Department is organised in departmental sections, created according to territorial criteria. Those sections are:

The Department provides tuition, writes design projects, offers technical advice and assessments in all the fields we mentioned, either directly or through the 'Centre d’Innovació Tecnològica en Convertidors Estàtics i Accionaments' (Centre for Technological Innovation in Static Converters and Actuators, CITCEA) set up mostly by members of the Department.

With respect to undergraduate studies (first and second years –'first cycle' and last two years of a degree course –'second cycle'), the Department provides tuition at the following Engineering schools:
